Raw Oatmeal

Raw Oatmeal

One of my very favorite breakfasts has got to be oatmeal. I have always loved it…even before going raw it was a big part of my diet. I was ecstatic to find that I could be raw and still have my oatmeal!

This tastes much better than cooked, not to mention that it’s the healthiest and least processed oatmeal you’re likely to ever have. And that’s always good!  The sky is the limit here, as there are many wonderful variations for this basic recipe. So go for it!

For this recipe, you will need:

  • Blender

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup oat groats
  • 1 tsp raw honey
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • sea salt to taste

Method:

Soak the oat groats in pure water overnight, or 4-6 hours. They will absorb a lot of water, so be sure to use enough to cover them by about 2″. Cover and allow to soak. I always use a mason jar with a plastic lid.

After soaking, drain and rinse, then transfer to blender with honey and a small pinch of sea salt. Add just enough hot water to process. Blend on low-medium until desired consistency.  Add more water and/or salt if necessary. Pour into a bowl, top with blueberries and enjoy!

The sky is the limit here, as there are many wonderful variations for this basic recipe. So go for it!
